We welcomed our first foster child yesterday. A darling baby boy named Jase straight from the hospital. Several people came to visit. It’s all so surreal, and completely normal at the same time.
Jesus, thank you for this sweet life you created. He is marvelous. Redeem his life, Lord. Wherever he goes may your relentless love follow. Bring him into your kingdom and may he make many disciples. May his mother turn to you, Lord.
I’m such a rookie at this. Sustain me through it. Jesus, be my center.
I went through the bag of things that he came with; a few clothes, a teddy bear, some baby powder, and an envelope that tore my heart to shreds. It is clearly a letter from his mother, sealed and sent with him. How I wanted to read it! He is not unloved.
I grieve over the way things are, they way they should be for him. I’m so grateful that I get to have him for a time. May the love we give him somehow change the trajectory of his life – eternally. He fits so neatly into our family, tucked right under our wings. A vulnerable chick looking for cover. Protect him even in ways I cannot. Your will be done in his life. I love him already, Lord. Help me remember that you love him more.
